TV & Film Masks

Normally a mask is the facial part of a whole body costume and is used to suggest mystery and power both for the audience and for the wearer. Today masks are normally plastic, mass produced items and can be associated with TV programmes, popular films or cartoon characters. They are reminders of the power of play and pretence and have a universal appeal.

In Western cultures masks are mainly used for fun and party goers enjoy wearing them as do small children who have fun pretending to be animals, witches or other creatures. Masks can be bought from fancy dress companies and there are different styles available including famous people masks which are popular today. Full face masks can be worn when the wearer does not want to reveal his identity. Items such as eye masks can be used to suggest an air of mystery as the masks can be raised or lowered as desired. Costume masks make a party go with a swing. You can decide to be Dracula, an alien, a witch or a beautiful princess as the choice is huge.
